Unveiling History: The Grand Egyptian Museum Opens Its Doors

​The new Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) is hailed as the largest archaeological museum in the world.  Its inception dates back to the early 2000s when the Egyptian government envisioned a state-of-the-art cultural

landmark that would preserve and better centralize Egypt's priceless antiquities.  After many delays and a successful partial opening, they're ready to roll out access to all galleries with the full opening scheduled for November 4, 2025.

New visitor centers, improved access roads, electric shuttle buses and pedestrian pathways create easier access between the Grand Egyptian Museum and the pyramid complex.  The design allows for visiting the entire historic site in one day. Local amenities have also seen upgrades, including cafes and shaded rest areas.
